Job Details
Short Description/Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidates will be engaged in research in the areas of reasoning, epistemic cognition, metacognition and developing responsible and critical thinking. They will be contributing to various projects of the TheThinking lab (thethinkinglab.uclancyprus.ac.cy). Their day-to-day responsibilities will be to pursue research, produce, submit, and publish research results in international journals, while working towards their PhD degree.

Profile of the ideal candidate:

The ideal candidate must possess academic background (BSc or MSc degree) in an area relevant to the research projects that currently run in the Thinking Lab (thethinkinglab.uclancyprus.ac.cy), as well as excellent research and writing skills. The candidate is expected to have independent critical thinking skills, strong organizational and time-management skills, and the ability to collaborate as part of a team. Highly motivated individuals who are interested in learning and pursuing research in the research areas of the Thinkinglab are strongly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor`s or Master’s in Psychology (or related field).

  • Previous research experience, especially in EU-funded projects, will be considered an advantage.

    • Where English is not your first language an English language qualification is required at IELTS 6.5/7.0 or equivalent. Candidates who have graduated from an English-Speaking university with a BSc or MSc are exempted from this requirement.

Scholarship Terms:

The offered scholarship is provisional to the candidate being admitted to the PhD program in Psychology at UCLan, working under the supervision of Prof. Kalypso Iordanou (Director of Studies). Application process and deadlines for program admission are separate from this scholarship application process. Candidates should consult the Postgraduate research – UCLan for admission requirements and applications.

The scholarship offered by the ThinkingLab will be for one year and may be renewed annually, based on performance, for 2-3 years. It includes a gross monthly salary starting from €1250, in addition to covering part of the University tuition fees. From this amount, employee contributions to the Cyprus government funds will be deducted. The 13th salary bonus is incorporated in the monthly salary.

  2. A statement with short description of academic and research experiences as well as the reasons for applying for the specific scholarship

  • A detailed curriculum vitae in English.

  1. Copies of official BSc/MSc degree(s) as well as copies of official transcripts for each degree (if the original language of the degree/transcript is not Greek or English, copies of official translations are also required).

  2. Copy of English language certificate, unless you have a University degree from an English speaking university.

  3. Identify the names of two University Professors who can provide reference letters.
